Search: Armed police search York for suspects in violent attack

Armed police are searching York today (Sunday) for two wanted men.

Police have issued an urgent appeal to find the men wanted in connection with Friday’s corrosive attack.

Joshua Anthony Strickland29, and Robinson Peter Fitch Binks26, are suspected of involvement in the incident.

The attack left a local man in his 30s with severe burns on his back.

It is believed that a corrosive substance was thrown at the victim, who had to undergo emergency treatment. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A 41-year-old local woman has already been arrested in connection with the incident and released on conditional bail while investigations continue.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Intensive police searches and investigations are underway in the attempt to take Strickland and Binks into custody.

“To support this, we are urging people to report sightings and information about both men as a matter of urgency.”

At least seven heavily armed officers were deployed as part of the search Stockton Lane in Heworth shortly after 10am this morning (Sunday).

They were at the intersection with Seymour Grove.

The police helicopter hovered over the scene of the accident and a police dog was also present.
