Hockey India is likely to name a 28-member core group for the men’s camp ahead of the Paris Olympics

Hockey India (HI) on Sunday announced a likely 28-member core group for the men’s national coaching camp to address shortcomings ahead of the Paris Olympics.

The camp started on Sunday and will continue till May 13 at the SAI Center in Bengaluru. The team returns to camp after a 0-5 defeat in a five-match Test series in Australia.

After this camp, the team will travel to Belgium and England for the next two legs of the FIH Pro League, where they will compete against Argentina, Belgium, Germany and Great Britain.

“We want to start an important training block in this camp and we need to make sure we are in the best possible shape for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. We have an exciting group of experienced players, along with some young players,” head coach Craig Fulton said in a HI release.

“The tour to Australia helped us realize what we need to work on and I always believe we can work on our shortcomings and put things right before the final stage of the Pro League and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.”
