Exact dates when you can ride Kent’s open coastal bus route with stunning coastal views this spring

With the sun finally making an appearance in Kent more and more, it’s the perfect time to get back outside and enjoy all the breathtaking scenery our county has to offer. If you’re a particularly big fan of our beautiful coast, there’s one unique bus route you simply have to try this year.

Open top bus number 69 has quickly become an important part of Kent’s coastal culture, taking countless passengers on breathtaking tours of Thanet during the warmer months. This year will be no different as the hugely popular Stagecoach service has already restarted as the mercury starts to rise again.

Services first resumed over the Easter holidays and will now continue every weekend until Sunday 19 May, including Bank Holiday Monday on 6 May. The service will then run daily from Saturday 25 May to Sunday 2 June and then every weekend until Sunday 21 July.

After that, the 69 will run daily from Saturday, July 27 to Sunday, September 1 and then every weekend until Sunday, September 22. Instantly recognizable by its cream and maroon paint, the bus has been designed as a throwback to the open-top services that served Thanet during the tourism boom of the 60s and 70s.

The route runs between Ramsgate and Broadstairs, with plenty of stops along the way for passengers to hop on and off to make the most of everything this beautiful stretch of coast has to offer. Starting at Ramsgate Boating School and all the way to Stone Bay in Broadstairs, there are plenty of incredible attractions on the route that are well worth a visit.

History buffs will certainly enjoy a trip to the Ramsgate Tunnels, the Dickens Museum or the Maritime Museum, which are easily accessible from this service. Other notable stops along the way include Broadstairs Victoria Parade, the Granville Theater and the beautiful Ramsgate Harbour.
